Who are we?
Klaus handles mechanical drawings while Serena works in the tourism sector in the beautiful Sardinia, Italy.
When did we meet?
We met about ten years ago and since then we have faced all the classic difficulties that all couples face: renting a house, learning to cook, sharing spaces, balancing the budget, but we had a common goal: to try to nurture our love. The years go by and love grows stronger, we overcome many difficulties, the bank account close to zero… but we overcome that too. We start thinking about a home together, small but ours.
How does the story continue?
Numerous efforts have been made, yet the outcome remains unchanged: it’s essential to have at least 20% of the mortgage amount, along with additional costs that in Italy range from 10% to 20% of the mortgage sum. Moreover, it’s crucial to have a financial cushion for emergencies. The result? A sense of discouragement… So, the next question arises: who can we turn to for assistance? Our closest ones, like parents and relatives… unfortunately, they are not in a financial position to lend us even a small portion of the amount we require. The economic climate in Italy in recent years has compelled families to dip into their savings just to maintain a decent living. Is it impossible for us to save 20%? When we consider the long-term perspective, with rising expenses and decreasing purchasing power, and with Serena working seasonally for half the year, even in 20 years, we might not be able to accumulate the necessary funds to purchase a modest home… Discouragement…
And now what can be done?
We wake up every morning thinking about what we can do to solve our biggest problem: having our own home! Unfortunately, we have to face reality. But I want to tell you one thing: We still have great hope. We know that people have big hearts and are capable of great generosity. We trust in the help of even perfect strangers because, after all, the world is capable of these wonderful things. Why help us specifically? Let’s be clear: We are not better than anyone else who needs help… Surely there are millions of people in the world who need it more than we do, but that doesn’t mean we don’t deserve your help! I think that if you are here reading our story, then we have touched you a little. Think if we were your children, your siblings, your relatives, your grandchildren, wouldn’t we deserve a little help?
